It's been a while

Ok, so one of the game jams I want to submit to ends tomorrow and my project is not finished.

Not by a long shot.

I haven't been able to focus on it because my kids were sick and I haven't been able to sleep, but I think that is something I have to do better to account for when scoping a project rather than an excuse. It's an important lesson to learn for project management I suppose.

At a minimum I would like to add some sounds. I've already downloaded a load of them, but haven't implemented them yet.

I need to adjust the title screen camera. It's more zoomed out than I want it to be, and than my own game shows. Maybe I have the window size misconfigured.

I'd also like to change the text colours. They default to white and there is a lot of white on screen most of the time so they are hard to read. Ideally I'd change the fonts too, but I'll settle for 'things I might be able to get done in another 2 hours of work' right now.

If I manage to get anything done in the next day or so, that's the kind of thing I'll be focusing on.

But to focus on the positives: The game mostly works. Objects move around, scores are recorded, catching the goose resets the level and makes the ogre faster. Players can't win, but they can set and beat a personal high score. Though I doubt anyone will play it, I think the guts of a prototype are there.

And although there's almost nothing I'm fully happy with, I'm a big believer in Voltaire's line: Perfect is the enemy of good.

This game isn't good, but it's good enough for my purposes. I'd just like to polish it a bit more before I move on.
