Basic menus

Over the last few days I've mostly been downloading assets and rifling through my collection of bought assets for tilemaps and sprites I can use to build the game.

I did also take some time to put together a simple title page with a few shaders and a few buttons. It should be playable in browser, but there is no game there yet. A lot of people leave these details for last in a game jam. I do too, they're usually last minute polish that is nice to have but less important than a working game. However, this is intended to be an at least one month project and ultimately, the title page is the first thing the player sees. It becomes a frame of reference for the rest of your game before the player knows what that game actually is. Like a book cover, it probably shouldn't be used to judge the rest of a piece, but it definitely is.

I don't expect it to remain static over the rest of the month, and I guess there is a risk that I spend too much time polishing these sort of extra's and not enough time actually developing the prototype. So I think that has to be the next thing I focus on.

The game is supposed to be effectively a pac man clone, with a single enemy. I've not made enemies that have complex behaviours before so that will be new, and I've not used Godots tilemap system before either, so those are two area's I'm looking forward to getting to grips with.

If you're reading this, why not let me know what you're hoping to learn from your current project?
